CCSD Students Competing at Georgia Science & Engineering Fair

Four Cherokee County School District students earned honors at regional competition and are advancing to the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair!

CCSD middle and high school students competed regionally for the opportunity to vie for top honors at the statewide fair this month at the University of Georgia.  Congratulations to the honorees and their teacher sponsors, thank you to local sponsors, Cobb EMC and Gas South, and thank you to our School Board for its laser focus on ensuring our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else!

All four CCSD students who are advancing earned Honorable Mention at the regional fair:

Hudson Gillentine, Grade 7, E.T. Booth MS, “Watts in Your Walk: Using Nano-Enhanced Triboelectric Wearables,” Energy: Sustainable Materials & Design, teacher sponsor Adrianna Flieger;

Amanda Michno, Grade 11, Cherokee HS, “Analysis of Nrf2 in Regulating Intestinal Homeostasis,” Biomedical & Health Sciences, teacher sponsor Robin Barnhorn;

Natalie Pereira, Grade 11, Sequoyah HS, “Observing Drug Resistance in a Multiple Myeloma (t4:14) Cell Line,” Biomedical & Health Sciences, teacher sponsor Amberly Buchanan; and,

Pranav Vasishta, Grade 7, E.T. Booth MS, “Harnessing Multi-Directional Wind Energy Using the O-Wind Turbine,” Energy: Sustainable Materials & Design, teacher sponsor Adrianna Flieger.
